Welcome to Second Grade!
Classroom Information
- Your student will carry a binder to and from school every day. This teaches responsibility and helps keep up with learning both in and out of the class. Inside the binder, you will find a "keep at home" folder and a "return to school" folder. Please check these daily to see what we are learning!
- Our reading curriculum is CKLA. It is broken down into two subjects - Knowledge and Skills. Each week, we will work on a reading story with comprehension and phonemic skills. Science and Social Studies are integrated into each lesson.
If you have any questions, please let me know!

About the Teacher
Welcome to Second Grade at A.H. Roberts Elementary!
We have a very busy and exciting year in store!
My name is Mrs. Melody Sadler. I am from Overton County and I live in Livingston with my husband, David. We are the parents of three big kids. Eli, our oldest son, is twenty-seven. He and his wife Nicole (and their dog, Stark) live and work in Chattanooga. Emma, our middle child and only girl, is nineteen years old. She attends Belmont University in Nashville. Last, but not least, is our son Tripp. He is eighteen years old and is in 12th Grade at LA. I am proud to say that all of my children are "A.H. Roberts Kids!"
I like to travel with my husband David and watch him coach LA Soccer. I love to take walks all around town and I often have my little dog Chewie with me when I go on car rides. :)
I have a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education K-6, Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction, and a Specialist in Education Degree (Ed.S.) from Tennessee Tech University. I love that "lightbulb" moment in teaching and finding what works best for each student and family.
I am looking forward to a fabulous year in Second Grade!

Dear Families,
Encouraging reading is one of the most important things we can do to help your child succeed. It can be tough finding the right books to keep them interested, which is why I am so excited that our class will be participating in Scholastic Reading Club this school year.
With Scholastic Reading Club:
- Every book you buy earns FREE Books for our classroom library
- You can choose from handpicked, grade- and reading-level-specific books for your child
- You'll find the best values on a variety of formats, including eBooks
Each month, your child will bring home Reading Club flyers. Together you can choose from books hand-selected by teachers and experts, and then order online or by returning your order form and payment to me.
I'd also love some help growing our classroom Reading Club. If you'd like to help out, please let me know! I'm excited to get our class reading!
Thank you for your support,
Mrs. Sadler's Second Grade Class
