About Me

Meet the Loftis Family
Hello! My name is Mrs. Amy Loftis. I graduated from TTU in 1999 with a BS degree in Elementary Education. In 2000, I began my teaching career in Clay County at the smallest school in the state of Tennessee, Maple Grove, which has since closed its doors. There, I taught grades K-3. In 2001, I began teaching in Overton County at Allons Elementary. I taught 2nd grade & 6th-8th grade math while I was there. In 2003, I transferred to A.H. Roberts. I taught 1st grade here for the first five years. I then moved to 4th grade and taught there for thirteen years. I was the County-wide 4th Grade Virtual Teacher for one year. I taught 3rd grade math for two years (three years if you count the year I taught a 3rd/4th grade combo). This year, I am returning to teach 1st grade.

In 1999, I married my neighbor and best friend, Jamie Loftis. He teaches American Government, and he is the head baseball coach at LA. We have been blessed with three wonderful children: Brooklynn, Tyler, and Levi.

My hobbies include playing with my kids, reading to my kids, cheering for Brooklynn at her softball games, taking family trips to the beach & Holiday World, arts & crafts, listening to music, reading books and research, writing poetry, logic/math/crossword puzzles, technology, creating educational materials, teaching, and constantly learning something new.

I believe that God gifts everyone with their own unique talents, and I enjoy trying to incorporate those talents in our classroom to make everyone feel welcome and valued. Students come to my classroom with different abilities, backgrounds, and experiences, and it's my job to help them attain their full potential. My teaching philosophy is that ALL students can and will learn in my classroom. I teach students reading and math, but more importantly, I teach them respect, responsibility, cooperation, and kindness. I have a poster in my room that I love, and it that says, "Good, Better, Best, Never Let it Rest until Your Good is Better, and Your Better is Best!" I am strict, and I do have high expectations for my students, but I want them to know that I believe in them, and they can do anything they set their mind to. It's no accident that our paths have crossed, and I feel blessed to teach your child and get to know him/her this year. If you need anything, please let me know.
