Hello 1st Grade Families,

We are working very hard on our S.O.A.R. expectations for the classroom, hallway, cafeteria, etc. Please help us by talking with your child about behavior expectations at school. Students can earn individual rewards, and we will also be working on earning class rewards.

All students have a binder with the following items inside: a folder to bring their work home in each Friday, a zipper pouch to keep pencils in, and a sheet protector with their list of Fry Words. Newsletters will go home in the front pocket each Monday. Please check your child's binder each day for other important notes from me, the office, lunchroom, etc. I will remind students each day for the first few weeks, but it is up to your child to remember to give me any notes or money that you send to school in the binder. We have a very large class and lots of skills to cover, so I will not be able to go through each student's binder everyday looking for notes. This is also a good opportunity for your child to practice responsibility. Thank you for your help and understanding.

Please send a snack for your child to have everyday. Our lunch is early, and students are very hungry by the afternoon.

Students have access to many resources we will use this year through the Clever Portal. At home, they can get to the Clever Portal here. All their passwords for these resources are stored in Clever, so once students login with their email and Oc password, they won't have to remember all the other passwords to get into those other resources. If you lost the login sheet I sent home at the beginning of the year, you can also find it on a sticker on the cover of their binder. Their login credentials can be found in Skyward, too.

Please make sure your child is practicing their Fry words, spelling words, and fluency passage each night to help ensure their success this year. Students are also encouraged to practice their numbers to 120 and memorize their addition/subtraction facts to 20.

If you need anything, please send me a message or email me at [email protected].
